Two days into the September Contact period and we already have the 1st commitment.

Deontae Cole

Deontae Cole visited Northern Kentucky on Sunday and left with an offer from Coach Bezold. As expected, he took the night to sleep on it and decided to pull the trigger on Monday. Cole is a 6’6″ wing player from Toledo Central Catholic HS. He is the first Central Catholic to earn a Division One scholarship since 1996. Deontae is a perfect fit for the style of play and system what the Norse utilize. He shoots it and is tough. Give Coach Jim Welling a lot of credit for the development of Cole and the TCC program over his 4 years at the helm.

Isaiah Johnson and DJ Wingfield – On Sunday, coaches from Ohio, Akron, Kent St and and Winthrop attended open gym.

Josh Davenport and Keon Johnson – Winthrop Assistant Coach Brian Thornton was in Ohio to see Davenport on Sunday and Johnson on Monday. Thornton has done a great job of using his past experience at Xavier and Head Coach Pat Kelsey’s Xavier and city of Cincinnati experience to establish an early pipeline.

There are a long list of other coaches visits and weekend campus visits to discuss as the recruiting period continues.
