September means the former start to Visit Season. With the new NCAA rules, student-athletes can take official visits starting January 1st of their Junior season. Although the rule has changes, it has not made much of a difference in the recruiting process as it was expected to.
This past weekend saw a slew of Ohio visitors:
Nigel Hayes took a visit to Wisconsin following Bowling Green HS Vitto Brown‘s visit to Madison earlier; speaking of Brown, he spent the weekend on an official visit to Nebraska. Look for one or both to commit to the Badgers before the signing period in November. Assistant Coach Lamont Paris has done a good job working inroads in Ohio after years at Wooster and Akron.
Gahanna Lincoln’s Aaron Jackson and Westerville North’s Jack Gibbs took Official Visits to Akron. Both are looking to play together in college and Akron is the current leader.
Isaiah Johnson visited Kent State. Isaiah is a well sought after MAC prospect. Especially after giving up football this season.
Finally, point guard Jaaron Simmons visited Saint Bonaventure in up-state New York. Expect to see Simmons land somewhere at or near the Atlantic 10 conference level.
Next weekend: Toledo Central Catholic wing Deonte Cole visits Northern Kentuky. They are his leader. Cole is a tremendous prospect and and elite shooter for his size. The only thing holding Deonte back is his ability to play off the bounce.
Stay tuned to TDP for information on each weekends visitors and commitments.
