A busy weekend for Toledo ended with two commitments from the rising senior class, and a first offer for a rising sophomore. The Rockets might have made the most headlines, but several players in Ohio reported recruiting news over the last few days…..
- Jordan Lauf – ’13 Napoleon SG: Lauf started a chain of commitments to the University of Toledo on Sunday when the 6’3 guard announced his decision via Twitter. Lauf chose the Rockets over offers from Akron, Bowling Green, Western Michigan, Ohio University, and Kent State.
- Zach Garber – ’13 Vanlue PF/C: Like Lauf, Garber made his college decision on Sunday, also committing to the University of Toledo. The powerful and skilled 6’8 post said that Akron was the runner-up for his services and that the effort with which the Rocket’s staff recruited him made the difference in making his decision.
- Jae’sean Tate – ’14 Pickerington Central SF/PF: About a week after receiving an offer from Dayton, the 6’5 combo forward (who is coming off of high school and AAU state championships) added an offer from Flyers rival Xavier. The Musketeers offered Tate during the middle of the week and reportedly plan on making him a top target to evaluate in the July AAU period.
- Brandon Murphy – ’12 Cincinnati Fairfield C: After playing out the recruiting process unusually long, the 6’8 shotblocker committed to Cincinnati State Community College over the weekend. Murphy joins fellow Cincinnati prospects Lionel “Bubba” Hill (PG West High) and Jamal Ivery (SG North College Hill) as Surge signees.
- Nigel Hayes – ’13 Toledo Whitmer PF: On Sunday, Hayes added an offer from Minnesota to his growing list of schools looking to sign the versatile and athletic forward. If he continues to play well in July on the AAU circuit, look for Hayes to make a decision between several high majors in the fall.
- Antonio Campbell – ’13 Covington (KY) Holy Cross PF: Campbell has added a few more scholarship offers to his list, which now is extended to five Division I schools. Over the last week Campbell has received offers from Wright State and Tennessee Martin; while picking up high major interest from Penn State, Minnesota, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Dayton.
- Peyton Aldridge – ’14 Warren LaBrae SF/PF: Earlier in the week, Aldridge cited offers from Davidson, Youngstown State, Akron, Miami (OH), Toledo, and Kent State; to go a long with heavy interest from Notre Dame, Dayton, and Harvard.
- Gavin Skelly – ’14 Cleveland Westlake PF/C: Earlier in the week, Skelly’s AAU coach Brian Bishop reported that the athletic 6’8 prospect has received offers this spring from Cleveland State, Akron, Kent State, Toledo, and Miami (OH). In addition to those schools, Skelly also has interest from Boston College, Wright State, Purdue, Yale, Ball State, and Lehigh.
- Myo Baxter – ’15 Lakota East SF/PF: Baxter continues to make a name for himself in the month of June, as the 6’5 combo forward added his first offer, from Toledo. Baxter earned the offer as his Lakota East team won Toledo’s team camp over the weekend, with Baxter leading the squad to victory. His high school coach, Wally Vickers, says that Bowling Green could offer Baxter any day now; while Ohio University and Michigan are also expressing interest in the versatile young forward.
