A year ago not too many people outside of the Cleveland area knew about ’12 Shaker Heights PG Terry Rozier. Now he has grabbed national attention as he committed to the University of Louisville on September 11th. Rozier, who stands 6’1, is a lightning quick pure point man who can really score the ball from inside 25 feet. Playing in Coach Pitino’s run and gun system, where they love to shoot the three pointer, should be the perfect fit for Terry as he shoots a consistent percentage from three with great confidence in his shot. Also known as somewhat of a pickpocket he should thrive in the various full-court trapping schemes that Pitino is a legend for. Rozier was the top ranked PG in Ohio in 2012 by TDP and every other scouting service.
“My heart was telling me to go there,” Rozier told TDP, “Ever since I was young I’ve always dreamed of playing at Louisville.” Rozier says that his admiration for UL and Coach Pitino go all the way back to ’04 when Sebastian Telfair’s high school documentary “Through the Fire” showed the Cardinal’s campus and facilities. Even though Telfair eventually backed out of his commitment to Louisville and went to the NBA draft Rozier was hooked. “Watching them on TV growing up, seeing coach Pitino’s energy, just made me want to be a part of that. I feel honored to be coached by him.”
The allure of the Big East was the final piece of the puzzle for Rozier as he ended up choosing Louisville over fellow Big East members Cincinnati and West Virginia. “The Big East is the toughest conference in the country and that’s what I like about it. It is the best league to prepare me for the next level which I hope to reach someday.”
