Evaluation: Elite prospect that can jump out of the gym and has incredible dexterity for such a long 6’8 frame. Point forward type of player who has a great handle and a variety of one on one moves to shake defenders. Very good finisher in the lane who uses his bounce to score over defenders and has the control to finish through contact. Solid, but not great, shooter who can create a look for himself off the dribble or just shoot over smaller wing defenders. Excels as a passer pushing the ball in the open court and makes solid decisions. Also impacts the game defensively with his shot-blocking and rebounding. Needs to add strength and consistently play with the high motor that makes him so dynamic but has the potential to be a standout on any level.

Bottom Line: Consensus Top 50 recruit nationally who should only get better with an extra year of school to work on his game before college. Blessed with the complete package of skills with the body and athleticism to be a collegiate superstar and then play on the next level.

Notes: Spent his first three years at Akron’s St. Vincent St. Mary’s before graduating from Brewster Academy (NH). Was scheduled to enroll at St. Johns as part of their ’11 recruiting class but due to eligibility issues decided to remain at Brewster for a year of postgraduate classes. In March of his postgrad year Sampson re-committed to Saint Johns as a part of their ’12 recruiting class.
