Evaluation: Fiery lead guard with a strong build and quick feet Yates is the perfect example of a point guard. A tight and low handle with an understanding of how to break down defenders he sees the floor well and sets up teammates without turning the ball over. Uses his athleticism and his strength to defend either guard spot and takes extreme pride in that area. To add to the equation he is a tremendous shooter from three point range and is capable of thirty point outings when his shot is on; he is able to create off the bounce (likes the step-back) or shoot the ball off of screens.

Bottom Line: As great of a PG prospect as he is Yates is an even better leader and competitor. He is one of Ohio’s top prospects and should be successful as a product of the Creighton program, where he committed in late September.

Notes: Transferred to Dunbar from Trotwood-Madison (Trotwood, OH) for his senior season. Leaders in his recruitment seem to be Dayton, Richmond, and Michigan at the moment.
