Semaj Christon

23 Aug

Name: Semaj Christon

Height: 6’3
Weight: 185

Position: Point Guard

School: Brewster Academy (NH)
Hometown: Cincinnati, OH

AAU: Cincinnati Knights
Class: 2012 (Postgrad)

Evaluation: A pure point guard that can switch seamlessly from dominant scorer to assist man Semaj has become one of the elite talents in the nation. A high level athlete with explosive hops, top end speed in the open court, good size for his position, and a lightning quick first step he uses all this to his advantage to get in the paint and make plays. A reliable shooter off the dribble and the spot up from three he thrives attacking the rim where he can finish over, around, and through contact. From a ballhandling and passing standpoint there are very few that can match his court vision and ability to see plays happen before anyone else. As he continues to refine his game and blossom he could become one of the all time greats to come out of Cincinnati.

Bottom Line: Coach Mack and his staff at Xavier must be ecstatic that they could lock Christon up before his year at Brewster. Semaj is going to have a chance to be a truly special talent as he matures into his scoring point guard role down the line. He should have a chance to earn playing time right away at XU as instant offense off the bench.

Notes: ’11 graduate of Winton Woods HS (Cincinnati, OH). Committed to Xavier in late July of 2011 and plans to sign in November. Consensus top 100 recruit nationally by all the major publications, saw the biggest rise in name recognition of any guard prospect in the country this spring.
