Evaluation: Russell is the top player in the state and a top 20 kid in the nation in his class. He has decent size and length to go along with good athleticism. He uses his tight handle and quickness to break defenders down off the dribble where he can get to the rim, find teammates or show off his nasty pull-up jumper. During the summer he showed the ability to knockdown the 3-point shot with consistency which probably helped his ranking even more. On defense he’s pesky because of his quickness and his length. He gets tons of deflections.
Bottom Line: Russell is a can’t miss high-major kid who has the total package.
Notes: Russell picked up his first offer from Xavier early in the summer and later received an offer from Louisville.
