Josh Lemons chooses the Rockets

“It just feels so great”, Cincinnati LaSalle senior point guard Josh Lemons said, “to know that I’m going to be playing Division I basketball, which has always been my goal.”
A few months after de-committing from Southeastern Louisiana the speedy guard found a new home on Tuesday evening when he committed to the University of Toledo. While the 6’0 Lemons said that the proximity to home wasn’t a huge factor in his recruitment he did mention that one of the reasons that he chose Toledo over SE Louisiana and Morehead State was because his family would be able to see him play more.
“The style of play was the most important thing to me. I think that I can come in and help them as a defender right away. The coaching staff was great on my visit and the team seemed like a family. All of that is similar to the atmosphere that I’m used to at LaSalle so it made it a perfect fit for me.”
The senior gave his verbal pledge to the Rockets, out of the MAC conference, just three days after his LaSalle Lancers team finished off another 20 win season. Lemons swept every player of the year award in the city and finished the season with averages of 17.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 51% shooting from the floor, and 3.1 steals. Lemons besides being named conference player of the year was also given the award for being the Greater Catholic League’s top defensive player.
