Elijah Macon to WVU

6’9 PF Elijah Macon has made his college decision and it’s the West Virginia Mountaineers. Macon, a Columbus native spending his senior year at Huntington Prep (WV) announced his decision on Friday night during his official visit to the school, and the news quickly circulated around the Midwest as one of the nation’s top post prospects is officially off the board.

After committing to West Virginia after his freshman season many pundits were surprised last year when Macon announced he was re-opening his recruitment. Lots of top tier programs came calling but no place felt more like home to Macon then West Virginia. Combined with the relationship he had built with assistant coach Eric Martin and his desire to play for a legendary sideline general like Bob Huggins the decision, in the end ,seems like it was a no-brainer to Macon.

A bruiser with great athleticism, who has shown signs of having a Huggins like killer instinct, Macon should be a contributor from day one at WVU as he has a Big East ready body. An emerging skill set, that is being honed more and more each day at Huntington Prep, will make him a versatile offensive threat as he can step out and shoot the ball, play the pick and roll game, or attack off the bounce himself. A terrific rebounder who plays with a lot of passion and emotion Macon is Ohio’s top 2012 prospect and a great get for the Mountaineers.
